Newsweek corrects false story about Trump’s Thanksgiving plans

By

President Donald Trump fired back at Newsweek Thursday after a reporter for the magazine pushed a misleading story about Trump's Thanksgiving activities.

The story: Newsweek political reporter Jessica Kwong initially published a story titled "How is Trump spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, golfing and more," but following criticism over the inaccurate reporting the story was updated and the title was changed to "How is Trump spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, golfing and surprising U.S. troops in Afghanistan."

Donald Trump Jr. tweeted a screenshot of Kwong's original article next to a picture of the president giving out food to U.S. troops in Afghanistan, captioning the tweet: “Fake News vs. Reality,” as reported by The Washington Times.

President Trump later retweeted his son's post, writing, “I thought Newsweek was out of business?”

Kwong later said she deleted her tweet which linked to her story, saying she made an “honest mistake.”

“Deleting this tweet because it was written before knowing about the president’s surprise visit to Afghanistan – an honest mistake,” she wrote, according to The Washingon Times. “Story has already been updated, as shown in the screenshot.”

Many Twitter users slammed Kwong's misleading report.
